14-Oct-2007 -- Some weeks before, I found out that I had to travel to a conference in San Francisco, thus that I put myself to investigate what confluences were around and after analyzing the situation I saw the possibility of visiting 4 confluences and as I had just one day available to do this, I needed to optimize my plan as much as possible.

As preparation I read the reports of all the previous visitors and determined that the best sequence to optimize the daylight availability was to go first to N8° W123°, then N38° W122°, N38° W121° and finally the most visited confluence of the world N37° W122°.

I arrived at San Francisco midnight October 13th and next day early in the morning, I approached the airport to rent a vehicle. I had not rented it when I arrived because I did not want to take any risk trying to find my hotel in San Francisco at night, so I preferred to rent it the following day. I took my camera and my GPS with the Garmin MetroGuide North America V6 map and I installed it in the car with the loudspeaker, so I could easily receive the auto routing instructions from the GPS to arrive at my first goal of the day N38° W123°. With regard to the rented car, the lady at the agency offered a SUV to me for a smaller price but I explained to her that I needed an economic vehicle since I planned to drive about 700 km. today. She asked me where I would go, but as all you understand I did not explain to her about the DCP so I simply said to her that I would go outside the city to appreciate the nature and countryside.

Today the morning was very cold and there was great haze, with a temperature in the order of 12°C, so I could not appreciate one of the excellent tourist places of San Francisco as it is The Golden Gate and when I passed by all I could see was the red color of its wires but it was impossible to watch the magnificent structure. I continued on freeway 101 towards the north and at Novato city I took Novato Blvd. towards the west. Soon at the interception with the Petaluma-Point Reyes Road I turned left to the south until arriving at Point Reyes town and from there I continued towards Inverness. I continued driving but the fog did not disappear; I passed through the famous farms with names of letters and arrived at the last one where I parked my vehicle. I did not see any person to request permission, so I initiated a short walk bordering the mountain towards my first confluence of the day, and a few minutes later I was already making the glorious "Confluence Dance" at 11:12 am. The fog continued accompanying to me but due to the itinerary of the day, I could not wait for it to disappear, so I took the required photos and returned to my vehicle.

It was incredible to listen to the strong Pacific Ocean hitting the coast, but it was not possible to see it due to the dense fog; even the pond that all the other visitors could photograph from the confluence could not be seen clearly from the CP for a picture. I've been in London several time but this fog was stronger. Is that normal in the San Francisco area?. This confluence is located within the National Park Point Reyes at 98 meters above sea level. Back in the car I continued with my adventure towards N°38 W°122.
