#1: The spot

(visited by Stephan Theriault)

07-Feb-2007 -- The heat is still oppressive but it will take more than that to keep me from doing a confluence if I can sniff one. Seriously, I'm always careful to keep the fluids up, wear a hat and not do anything silly.

Leaving Mendooran, we haeded north on a dirt road. We had to do a bit of guesswork as not all the roads have signs to tell you where they go around here. When I was satisfied that we had driven as close as possible to this confluence, I jumped a fence, seemingly full of confidence about what I was doing. I had to backtrack and go past the car sheepishly ten minutes later because I had been going in the opposite direction to where I needed to go. It's always good to eat a bit of humble pie.

Anyway, this confluence appeared to lay in a field where a bunch of cows were grazing and also, in the distance a large looking bull. I kept an eye on him all the way and made sure I wouldn't get between him and his girlfriends. Looking around I couldn't see a tree close enough to run to and climb in in case he decided to have a go at me. Fortunately, he found more incentive in staying in the shade of his own tree and I don't blame him.

I found the spot I was looking for easily and got back to the car. Another one down and next on our "to do" list is 31S 150E
