#1: GENERAL VIEW AND EAST/ VISTA GENERAL Y ESTE

(visited by Ramon Minguell Minguell)

14-Aug-2006 -- As every year, my wife and I spent two weeks of holidays, in August, in our sisters in low house in L’Estartit (Gerona, Spain).

Last year, approaching that circumstance, I got the Point 42ºN 3ºE, my first Point, a few Km. from were we live.

This year I had decided to go to next Point, in the same parallel, 42ºN 2ºE, one hundred Km. away by road.

So I convinced my brother in low to go there on his car and one day, may be the 14th August, we started at ten o’clock a.m., a team of four people, the two sisters and husbands, to have the adventure.

We take the road to Gerona, Vic, Olost and Prats de Lluçanés, the nearest village from the Point. There we took the C-4011 road and stopped four Km. away were a country road go to “Taulets Massia”, a farm were the owners have the Point. Two days before it was a great fire of woods near the zone and we considered don’t go by car to catch the Point. It was recommended for Government Authority in order to prevent new fires.

The team was reduced in two people, my wife and I.

Two Kms. walking in a very god track and we arrived near the “Massia”, where confluence point is located, bat nobody answered when we wanted ask for permission.

A few meters on the left it was a small wood and just at the back, ¡the Point!

I had seen it in maps, aerial photos and roads guides and I knew it perfectly. We took shots of the cardinal’s points in the properly established way and come back to car. It took us twenty five minutes walking.

Then we went to Olost, a nearest village, and had a lunch in a good restaurant called “Can Sala”.

I need agree that this second visit to 42ºN 2ºE was very ease for me because I had learned and seen the map that appear in the first visit to the Point, realised in 17-Dec-2000 for Joan Ludevid and Nicole Wulf. They put in the web a black and white map, which the coloured version I got in ICC (Institut Cartographic de Catalunya), 1:5.000 Scale and it helped me very much to go in a sure direction.
