02-Aug-2006 -- This year the 50th European Go Congress took place in Frascati and again Bernd and I didn't want to miss the opportunity to visit a confluence. The next one seemed to be very interesting because there was only one visit and it was already five years ago. The narrative of Hans Augdoppler didn't sound like a little promenade and it was difficult to spot the lanes through the bush on Google Earth. To reduce the difficulties and ease the approach we asked Anton who came to Italy by car and he was willing to join in.

Thus the three of us took the car from Frascati and by assistance of the car navigation system we reached after 90 Minutes the hill on which lies the village Anticoli Corrado. First we entered it but having seen the pictures of Google Earth and having read the description of Hans I had already decided that we wanted to try another approach than he did. Therefore we turned around and parked the car halfway up in the easternmost hairpin bend of the Via Roma (42°0'37"N 12°59'34"E). We followed the Via Luigi Massimiani and later the Via Domenico Ponzi along the slope towards south east. From here you have a nice view of Roviano on the other side of the valley. After about 12 minutes at 42°0'27"N 12°59'55"E we reached a fork and chose the right arm. Later we found out that the left one which goes downhill in the beginning would have been the better choice.

Our way lead us to a tree meadow and ended there. We had to work our way through the dense vegetation (brambles!) and only after a quarter of an hour we had found the lane again which had been running a bit below us. From here you can see the village Marano Equo on the next hill. Again we followed the path and soon we reached the spot where Hans had been, too. The CP lies about 50 m to the west of the path up the slope and is probably not reachable without sturdy shoes, rugged clothes (against the thorns) and much endurance. Just above the path stood the remains of a small building which was overgrown so much that it's almost impossible to recognize.

We settled with the reached approximation and after a short break we returned to the car. While we needed about 45 minutes to reach the CP the way back took us only 30 minutes.
