(visited by Terje Mathisen)

21-Apr-2006 -- Driving from Monterey to San Francisco airport, I decided to avoid the San Jose area by taking HWY 1 along the coast. This was a good idea since I knew that president Bush was going to visit San Jose at this time, something which would certainly lead to temporarily closed roads and other traffic problems.

Since this meant that I would pass through Santa Cruz I decided to make a very short detour and revisit this point, but this time by starting on the golf course above the hillside where it is located, instead of the public park area below it which I used on my previous visit.

This worked very well, and I easily located a path down from the golf course to the confluence area. To do so I did have to cross the fairway on one of the holes, something which you're not supposed to do unless you are playing golf.

On my previous visit I lost GPS coverage multiple times, with the new SirfSTAR III chipset I had 9-12 satellites (including partial WAAS coverage) at all times, giving 4 m EPE numbers.

The all-zero GPS photo turned out to be too blurred unfortunately, but the track log confirmed that I had found the point.
