#1: View towards Confluence in dunes from 10 km SE (24°56'N 11°04'E)

(visited by Stanley Howe, Peter & Rosemary Lee, Donald & Gillian Kelley, Ian & Wendy MacCallum and Milad Ghouma)

12-Apr-2005 -- Continued from 26N 11E.

Leaving Wādiy Akākus with its rock art, and crossing the Msak Mallat towards the petroglyphs in Wādiy Mathkendoosh, we camped in dunes at 24°54'06"N 10°55'51"E on the night of 11 April. Breaking camp at 09:00 next day, we left the dunes to drive ENE along well-worn tracks at their southern edge. At 09:45 we halted briefly at 24°56'N 11°04'E, which is c. 10 km SE from the Confluence (in the dunes). Knowing this had already been bagged, we did not detour for it, but from previous experience of crossing dunes it would seem to be of relatively easy access from the Akākus-Mathkendoosh trail.

Continued at 26N 13E.
