#1:

(visited by Rob Millenaar, Paul Manners, Bou Schipper, Mondré, Marilee and Hilda Louw and Jan, Ronel Louw)

01-May-2005 -- On a nice day we went for a braai in the Verneukpan. Now the Verneukpan is a huge dried up lakebed where land speedrecords in cars an on bikes were set and broken many years ago. The verb 'verneuk' means 'to fool' and describes to mirages that can be seen here.

We saw the mirages, and also the confluence point which was very easy to get to. Just drive up and locate the exact spot. Previous visitors left a black rock exacly on target, see the picture of the GPS. Next we made the obligatory group picture with Bou indicating the exact spot, Paul on the right, me on the left, and the Louw family in the middle.

Then I took a couple of steps back and made a 360 degrees panorama. The Confluence is indicated by the small tripod in the middle of the picture.

The braai was great!

Coordinator's Note: Unfortunately, the mentioned pictures never got uploaded to the DCP. Thus, the visit had to be registered as 'incomplete'.
