14-Sep-2004 -- Continued from 39N 33E.
In September 2004 Cenci and I decided to visit 40N 40E in eastern Anatolia. We started by car in Hamburg and drove through the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Serbia/Montenegro and Bulgaria. After a 3500 km ride we finally reached 40N 40E, but on our way we took the chance to visit some other DCPs in Turkey, too.
39N 31E was the last of them. On 14 September 2004 we passed the Afyon district in the late afternoon. If our guidebook tells the truth, "afyon" means opium and this area is big in opium poppy farming. The Confluence is a stroll – it's almost as if it has its own parking lot. We left our car by the little mosque just off D260 and walked up a dry riverbed that leads directly to the spot. Nothing of particular interest here, but a nice little walk, anyway.
