23-Apr-2011 -- After reaching in the morning of this day 9° N 64° W, we continue our hunting jouney towards the Confluence Point N9W65, which already we knew that our fellow had achieved in the morning 9° N 65° W.

Then we left from N9W64 following the GPS indication go ahead along the road to the South and the junction with Via San Tome - Oritupano wesward, where it joint with the road San Tome – Morichal, made us go through San Tome and reach the Troncal 15 that would lead us toward the West to Pariaguan and go to our next target N9W65.

By phone, I had contact with Jose Antonio Toledo, Luis Manuel Gonzalez who headed back to Maturín and El Tigre cities respectively, by east of Troncal 15 and planned find them during my trip to N9W65.

Then, in N8 51 43.5 W64 42 34.0 we met first with Jose Antonio’s family, and shared stories of each one. We took a photo to record the meeting. Jose Antonio said to me in that moment that they probably will attempt to make the N9W64 CP. I told him that the problem was that if the gate could be closed, as we found it, and then the visit would not be easy to reach before the sunset. Then we said goodbye and each everyone took the way.

I knew Luis Manuel Gonzalez together with my great friend Mauricio Pagavino and his son Cedric, were enjoying a lunch at the restaurant La Tacita de Oro, N8 49 54.6 W64 45 12.3, so I went to meet them. Again there share the same experiences of Toledo´s family, and we took a picture, and everyone went his way. Here in this meeting we have anecdotally a wasp sting on a finger of my son Gabriel´s left hand. His crying was inconsolable at the site, and we spread a medication (Neosporin) that we had in our first aid kit, a refreshing drink and he fall sleep.

Luis Manuel gave me a message from my good friend Rainer Bostelmann and told me that we needed about 4 hours to go and return from the Troncal 15 at N8 49 03.0 W65 06 42.5 to the CP N9W65. It was exactly when the 3:30 pm start our tour to the north by dirt road, and our goal was almost at 24 km.

We follow the dirt road that our GPS showed, stopping at 4:30 pm at just 730 meters from our target, which we knew we had to the East.

My friends that we meet along the way, alerted us of the ticks and previous stories we reported the presence of "Guaritoto" (Jatropha urens), which also found our friends early in the morning. Again we prepare with adequate clothing, we apply repellent, we stocked up on beverages and all my group start our hike to the target, including my wife Monica and my mother-in-low Alicia who in the morning had not participated in the hunt for the N9W64.

The walk to CP N9W65 was not easy, the “Guaritoto” was an obstacle everywhere, and although our friends had given us a tip to reach the point smoothly we did not get the coordinate of fast, so the walk became very slow, dodging bushes and Guaritoto. All these sunset of the day was another point that was not in our side, because the confluence should be marked by day!! and at night is not valid. My Oregon 550 warned that the sun hiding at 6:03 pm and after that time would have only minutes to achieve the goal

I finally saw the fence that I had been informed by previous visitors and continued it until approach to 30 meters from the goal, it was still daylight. I stepped back and gave courage and strength to the team, Monica with the Nuvi 885T was intended and indicated the fast track and so it was 5:50 pm approximately when we catch PC N9W65. To the west we could see the sun fell, so we took photos of rigor and started our way back to the car, which was very fast, following the fence to the west.

Entering on the Troncal 15, I received voice and text messages on my cell phone, which I warned a setback of my friend Jose Antonio Toledo and family during the visit to the N9W64 CP, because their gadgets, both the GPS and GPS-enabled cell phone ran out of battery, and were a bit lost by the vicinity of the confluence. Fortunately there was only a scare, and could reach the car and follow their way to Maturín.

It was late that night on 23 April, and we knew that fellow adventures involved in N8W65 and N9W65, who lived in Caracas and Barquisimeto, in the afternoon had visited the N9W66 also, and were staying in Valle de La Pascua city.

So we contacted Oscar Gonzalez to see if we could spend the night in the same hotel, but at 10:00 pm there were no rooms available for my group. We located a second hotel and there were no rooms, so we decided to continue to Caracas, and we did sharing driving between my wife and me. Finally, we arrived home at 2:30 am, unpacked all and took a shower and rest. It was 3:30 am when we went to sleep.

During the tour which would not discuss our next adventure, but in my mind was the map of confluences and destinations that would have during the year, I probably will lead to new and exciting adventures.
