26-Jun-2010 – In 5.20 we left Sinyavino towards the last unvisited on-land confluence of Leningrad region. Total travel time to the confluence was 9 hours driving in the car and just one hour walking through the woods and swamps. We drove 360 km on the highway, dirt road, forest roads and forest clearing. Despite the fact that the weather was quite dry, our car got stuck several times in the huge puddles on the logging road. Thanks to satellite images, GPS and laptop we were able to get close to the CP on the car at a distance of less than two kilometers.

Having left the car in a clearing in 300 meters from Kandozero lake, we got walking to the south-west. Having overcome a swamp, which lies between two lakes (Kandozero and Dolgozero), we reached the confluence an hour later. The confluence point is located in a mixed swampy forest on a hill, a hundred and fifty meters from the shore of Dolgozero lake.

About an hour we ran around the CP with three GPS-navigators, trying to catch pretty round coordinates with all the zeros after the decimal point on the screen. Two navigators (with dd-mm-ss coordinates displayed system) got us beautiful pictures, while the third couldn't do it due to high precision of the scale division.

Going back, we walked about a mile across the marsh along the south-eastern lake. We had a rest on its shore and enjoyed a swim. It should be noted that this place was quite habitable: there was a fireplace, there were some round logs, and even there was a small bench. Apparently the lake is popular with local fishermen. More three hundred meters... and we were again in the car, turned around and set off to home. It was 5:30 pm. Having knew our path, our back way was easier, we were not stuck in the road erosions, driving them onto the least deep places. Now we didn't need to leave the car every 50 meters and to measure the depth of puddles, so our way back till the highway took much less time, but the average speed was still less than 10 kmph. Along the way we passed through some clearings and met several logging trucks. The nearest settlement, which we passed after visiting the confluence was Krasnoborskiy. In the villages that we passed there were a lot of abandoned houses and fallen buildings. Almost in every village we met blue-and-red public telephone booths, the sign of Putin's time.

We were relieved to come out on the asphalt road. Since we expected to come home early, we canceled a planned overnight stay. However we've got into a traffic jam on M-18 route for many hours and arrived into Sinyavino only by 2:30 am. In total, the entire expedition took less than twenty-four hours.
