#1: Looking southeast at the site

(visited by Gavin Roy)

04-May-2013 -- This was the first of ten confluences, all in Eastern Colorado, completed May 4-5, 2013. I tried to run to each one when the terrain (and animals... see 37N, 104W) allowed, which was pretty often in flat, desolate, beautiful E. CO. I also tried to keep decent notes to keep them apart. For the benefit of myself and the reader, I'll keep these in a pretty standard form format with specific comments for each one.

Comments: Left my home in Fort Collins at 5:10a. The mucky earth from the last snow (May 1!) remained solid enough for clean jogging, luckily enough. Cattle in the distance, same field. Visited the highest point in Nebraska afterwards, not a half mile drive up the road to the north. Surprisingly beautiful panorama.

Time arrived: 6:49a

Parking location: CR 111 right next to High Point Bison sign

Temperature: 32 deg. F

Roundtrip distance: 0.5 mi.

Total time away from car: 21 min.
