03-Nov-2007 -- Today I visited Portugal to go to this confluence and the41ºN 7ºW.

Visiting this second confluence of the day took longer than anticipated. It is placed in the district of Castelo Branco, to the outskirts of Penha Garcia. Just out of the location in direction to Spain I took a road to the right that approached me at about 80 meters from the point. The road is in good conditions, in the middle of way I bordered a plantation of eucalyptuses. Then the road descended at a steep angel, which I should have not followed.

At the end of the down hill there was a stream that I managed to pass with some difficulty, since I could not return because the car would not climb the hill. I stopped and walked about 80 ms until the confluence where I secured the point next to the existing footpath. There was vegetation around but it did not prevented the vision of the mountain range of Penha Garcia.

I followed the road easily until another stream that I could pass with the car. The bad thing was that the dirt road had a sharp ascent where my wheels had no traction. Thank heavens the Prius in electrical mode uses all the torque, otherwise I would have been stuck for the second time in one day. Luckily I could get out of there. Find a paved highway and take the direction of the spas from Monfortinho, and from there to Spain and home.

A long, interesting and instructive trip. I reached the conclusion that it is better to walk than to risk to have a mishap with the car just to avoid getting tired. From now on I will do this in my next confluences.
