19-Jul-2005 -- Continued from 37N 37E.

In the morning of 19 July 2005 I drove from Gazi Antep on to the next confluence point. On the E-90 the road went eastward and I crossed the Euphrates in the town of Birecik. After the bridge I drove along the river in a southern direction and drew nearer to the point on country roads. On a very bad road I was able to drive on top of a hill and from there it was only a few metres to the point. Next to the road half decayed cows were lying in a dry creek's bed. From the hill you have a great view over the very fertile Euphrates valley.

The confluence point is situated on the other side of the hill away from the river. There I took the required photos, returned to the car and drove on to Şanlı Urfa, the town that the famous Urfa kebab comes from. In Şanlı Urfa I did a tour of the holy district with the holy carps. At 45°C in the shade I didn't stay long in the hottest town of Turkey, but set off to the next point instead.
