15-Oct-2023 -- In October 2023 I take part in an organized 14-day cycling trip through Uganda. Larger distances between the regions in which we are traveling by mountain bike are covered with two buses, which transport the tour group and the bikes. On day 7 of this trip we cross the Equator by bus (not for the first time). A few meters east of the road, the Equator (the zeroeth degree of latitude) intersects the 30th degree of longitude, so the confluence point 0° 30°E can be visited there with little effort. The other members of my travel group are curious and follow me in my activity. I soon find the garbage dump that was already visible in the photos of other confluence point visitors, a bold step into the bushes behind it - and I can "zero".

The ring-shaped monument that used to mark the Equator on the side of the road (although not quite in the right position) had been removed and placed away from the road but almost exactly on the Equator - a nice opportunity for a group photo! The equator sign next to the road, however, is not in the right place, nor is the large banner erected there that shows a photo of the ring monument and in front of which you can pose for a photo in return for a monetary donation.

I document my bike rides (and also a few hikes) to confluence points here on Komoot.
