29-Apr-2007 -- After a stop at Cunnamulla and some priceless information from a lady on how to get to the next confluence, we were on the road again. This one was very special because it had never been done before. Only an attempt but nobody seems to have gotten very close.

75 kilometres south of Cunnamulla we turned west on a bitumen road which quickly turned to dirt. We stayed on it for 60 kilometres before heading south again towards the station where the confluence is. Another 15 kilometres took us fairly close and when we realised that there was nobody at a house nearby, we made our way to the border fence.

I thought initially that it was the dog fence and I was surprised to see it in a state of disrepair but by talking to some locals a few days later, I was told that the dog fence is a couple hundred kilometres to the north. Anyway by hugging the fence we made our way close to the confluence but it was actually 140 metres to the south of the fence, which means Queensland is getting ripped off by that much real estate. Being a Queenslander at heart I think it's a pity. In a sense it doesn't matter too much because it's only mulga and we're not missing out on a lot.

I'm glad we had the four wheel drive. The rain that they had received a few nights earlier made the ground soft in some places.
