04-Jan-2015 -- This narrative continues from 21S 55W.

After the first visit of the day, near Sidrolândia city, I came back to Campo Grande and, after a bit of hardness to find the correct way, I caught MS-080 highway heading to Rochedo city, near 20S 55W confluence.

When arriving at Rochedo, I stopped to have a snack (replacing the lunch) and followed by some more kilometers up to the start of dirt road leg, 17 kilometers long. According to two previous visitors, this dirt road has a lot of sand, and this worried me, due to the possibility of it isn’t passable by a small car.

As I can realize, really, the road has a lot of sand in some parts, but this didn’t cause any problem. The road is busy, serves lot of farms and I passed by various small cars along the way. Beside of this, it is in good condition, and has lot of bumps. The bumps in the dirt road, differently the ones in the paved road, has the objective of avoid that thunderstorms makes floods on the road, causing its deterioration.

Although the road is easily passable when dry, I couldn’t say if, after a thunderstorm, I would manage to pass by it so easily. This fact turned a concern, because there were very dense clouds in the sky and, when I finished the 17 kilometers dirt road leg, the rain started to fall, a moderately intense rain, not so strong.

As there isn’t anything to do, I decided to ignore the rain and following the plan, with the hope that the rain would stop or, at least, wouldn’t increase.

I stopped the car in front of Albuquerque Farm gate and started the hike, 2,750 meters long. The farm has a very big amount of cattle. After some hundreds of meters, I passed by a very beautiful way, inside a forest, as can be viewed in one of the published photos. To my luck, the rain stopped, but dark clouds, winds and thunders threats me.

Later, I faced a completely flooded road, as it is also showed in one of the published photos. After thinking a bit about how cross it, I managed to get in a lateral track and jumped the water, without soaking the feet.

Later, I passed by other gate, in the same Albuquerque Farm. From this point, I started to have problems with lot of cattle around me.

The visit of this confluence seems like an adventure game, in that at each moment there is a new challenge. After facing sand in the road, rain continuous threaten of new rain and flooded road, by now it’s the cattle that I has been facing.

As there isn’t a fence protecting me from the cattle, I must following along the border between the pasture and a forest that surround the farm. To my luck, the forest isn’t so dense, and, when I must to approach a lot to the cattle, I hiked inside the forest.

The final leg was in a pasture area, totally free of cattle. I got all GPS zeroes and made all the way back to the car.

In back way, the sole of my tennis started to unstick again, as occurred in the visit to the first confluence of this trip. I would stick it when I would be in the hotel and must to stick it one more time up to the end of the trip.

To my luck, it wasn’t raining yet, but the clouds was threatening more and more. Then, I managed to come back to the asphalt the quickest possible. Incredible, when started to rain, I was a few meters to the highway and, a bit after starting the trip back to Campo Grande, by the highway, a thunderstorm started to fall. If I were half an hour delayed, I would face this thunderstorm on the dirt road and I don’t know if I would manage to come back.

I arrived at Campo Grande when the night was falling, about 19:00. I found a hotel at downtown to spend the night, took a shower, took a snack inside the hotel and delivered the car.

In the following day, January 5th, I spent the morning resting in the hotel and used the free time, at the afternoon, to know the city. At 16:45, I caught a bus to Campinas, 919 kilometers distant, where I would arrive at 9:30 of following day.

I advanced my watch by one hour, because at now I entered definitively at the official Brazilian time zone, with saving time. I had a snack and caught other bus going to Poços de Caldas at 11:30. It was 164 kilometers more.

My visit to Poços de Caldas aims to meet my friends from the period in that I live in this city, between November 2010 and March 2012, during which I had the opportunity to increase a lot my visited confluences list, especially in São Paulo state.

I spent the night in a hotel and, in the following day, at 8:00, I caught a bus to Lavras, the final destination of this huge trip, where I would spend the following five days. It was the last 255 kilometers of the trip.

The trip from Marabá to Lavras lasted seven days, from December 31th to January 7th. I passed by seven Brazilian states and visited four new confluences. I slept three nights in hotels and four nights in buses. At all, I traveled 4,431 kilometers during 85 hours of bus travels, not counting the travels made by car to visit confluences.

In the following day, January 8th, my wife and my son travelled by bus from Belo Horizonte to Lavras, in order to encounter me. At January 12th, we would travel back to Belo Horizonte and, at January 14th, I would catch a plane back to Marabá, in order to work in the following day. The vacations of my wife and my son would continue, some days more, in Belo Horizonte.
