#1: The point from 20 meters distance

(visited by Sirous Nekooei)

22-Sep-2006 -- This is my 8th CP visit.

Directions: Mašhad, Chenārān, 22 km after Chenārān a graveled road in the right side goes to villages: Ḥakīmābād, Ḥājjīābād, `Alīābād, Bahmanjān-e Soflā, Govāreškān, Bahmanjān-e `Olyā, Rošakhān spring, Ġaraġorut, Šak Meydān (or Ašk Meydān).

I parked my car at Bahmanjān-e `Olyā. It was not suitable for the bad conditioned tracks afterward. From the last village (Bahmanjān-e `Olyā) to the base of the mountains (Šak Meydān) it is roughly 15 kilometres. I talked to a man in the village who had a motorcycle. We agreed on 150,000 Rials (16 US-$/13 €) so that he takes me to Šak Meydān (on return, I paid him 200,000 (22 US-$/17 €), as he did the job very well). His name was Moḥammad Kadkhoda.

From a place named Khoškezu, there is a shorter way to Šak Meydān, but it is not suitable for motorcycle. But if you decide to go by walking, it could be a good alternative way. At Šak Meydān, I left my backpack (and the driver) and climbed a mountain. The way became gradually more difficult and rocky. Finally, I arrived at the point, which was in a rather steep slope of the mountain.

On return, I chose a much easier way. If you decide to go, choose this way: from Šak Meydān go into a valley in the east side. At a place with many trees, turn to the left side and then climb toward the point. I have provided a picture of the GPS track. From the base of the mountains (Šak Meydān) you will have to walk and climb for 1200 meters (250 meters elevation).

The area should be very beautiful in the spring. There are scattered pine trees on the mountains.
