20-May-2011 -- A trip to my friend in Norway gave me the possibility to visit several confluence points. The sixth one of this journey was the CP 58°N 7°E, located about two and a half kilometres south of the village Korshavn, on an island, in the district Vest-Agder, Norway.

My friend owns two kayaks and he said that it would be worth to have a try to visit the Confluence. I thought it might be too dangerous to go by small kayaks on open water. To go kayaking in the sea was a challenge to him as well as to me! The weather was not too bad; it was cloudy, a little bit windy but no rain. So we packed the boats on the car and started the trip. We reached the peninsula Belland, passed the bridge over the Revøysundet and reached the island Revøy with the village Korshavn / Korshamn on its west coast. Here we put the kayaks into the water at the little marina from the ‘Korshamn Robuer’.

The building looked like a mixture of hotel, diving base and fishing centre. The season has not started yet so nobody was to see there. After about 40 minutes of paddling in zigzag course through the maximum half-meter-waves we found the hidden harbour between the two islands Austre Seløy and Vestre Seløy.

To avoid rough waves and flows a wall was built to connect the two islands and to set up the nice little bay. Nearly dry we fixed our boats and started the last section of this exiting confluence visit. Near our landing place we found a paved path which leads into the right direction. After a view metres it changed into an unpaved path grass overgrown. In the beginning there were fences on both sides. Later it was hard to recognise the path and sometimes we had to jump from rock to rock to avoid sinking in the soft wet moss. Then I recognised the little shed, which I knew from the pictures of the first visitor, and was sure to reach the CP soon. After a last climb on a rock circa 8 metres about sea level we reached the Confluence Point 58°N 7°E after a hike of 35 minutes!

The way back was easier because we could follow the saved track on the GPS screen. We had time so have a closer look to the second little house, located east of the CP, a really wide and strong stone wall more in the east and the impressive natural tunnel located somewhere at 58° 0.218'N; 7° 0.167'E, which I also knew from a picture of a former visitor. Back at the boats we met an elder lady. From her we heard that nearly nobody lives in the houses here at this time of the year. They will come in summer to spend holidays and weekends here.

On the water we had a strong following wind and knew to direction to go to, which you can see on the straight part of the GPS-track. So we reached Korshavn (Picture 10-near Korshavn) very quickly, after about 30 minutes of paddling. So this quite adventurous visit to a confluence point was successfully finished!

This confluence point is not easy to visit because it is located on an island and only accessible by using boats. The next Confluence I wanted to visit was the CP 59°N 8°E, near the lake Nesvatn, Norway.
