06-Sep-2003 -- In this beautiful Saturday I leave for my second confluence of the day (see N50-W072) at 12:53 pm. I am on the forest road R0257, in km 140, at 1:12 pm.

119 km later, I take a new road which does not appear on my maps. I am 2,6 km of the confluence (N49 ° 00 ' 38.5", W72 ° 01 ' 53.8"), between lakes Noir and Brochet (so called lake Proulx), near the village of Sainte-Élisabeth-de-Proulx.

With the GPS in navigation mode, I get closer the most possible of the confluence up to approximately 700 metres of this one. It is at this moment 2:41 pm and I am in coordinates N49 ° 00 ' 11.3", W71 ° 59 ' 30.0".

I put my boots and adjust my compass to 240 ° and I estimate the walking to be made for thousand steps in woodland. After 957 steps, I result in a clearing which allows me to take a position with the GPS. In the light of this information, I fit my compass to 247 ° and have to make another about fifty steps.

On the spot, I see a big stone which corresponds about to the confluence. The small GPS of pocket whom we use in the daily life having a relative precision, it is possible to find a point of reference close enough to the confluence and to wait that the wished zeros displays.

It is what I made on this big stone and, at 3:50 pm, long-awaited zeros finally materialized. The sun which had made more discreet for half an hour shows itself at the right time to offer a nice luminosity for my photos.

The colonel Walker who accompanied me during this fifth epic was once again anxious to be photographed on the confluence. At 4:36 pm I was back in my car and at 6:08 pm to my home, in the city of Saguenay (N48 ° 26 ' 07.1", W71 ° 13 ' 42.6").
