  42°N 120°W (visit #4)

#1: View North

(visited by Ross Finlayson)

10-Sep-2018 -- I had already visited this point six years ago, but decided to visit it again (while returning to California from central Oregon) because I remembered it being an especially beautiful point, and because I wanted to record a ‘drone’s eye’ view. As before, I accessed the point by taking the narrow 4WD road at 42.00747°N 120.01548°W, then hiking about 1/4 mile to the point.

The point appears to have changed little in the preceding six years; in fact, it looks exactly the same as I remembered it. It lies at the base of a small pine tree (one of three such trees clustered together) at the bottom of a scree slope. Looking south, I could see the ridgeline that forms Oregon's rough boundary with Nevada (on the left) and California (on the right). Unlike last time, I didn’t hike the 0.3 miles south to visit the OR-CA-NV ’tripoint’, although I did fly my drone in that direction.

Here is a remote-controlled aerial video of this confluence point.
