02-Oct-2004 -- During our South Tyrol trip we touched this confluence at the way back home. After a visit of the farmer market in BRIXEN we drove through the Pustertal and Bruneck into the Ahrntal. Although this valley is without an exit towards Austria, heavy weekend holiday traffic prevailed on this sunny Sunday afternoon.

We passed SAND IN TAUFERS drove along the river AHRN to St. JAKOB and parked at the hotel ALPENROSE. We started our walk in direction EAST over the Ahrn bridge and moved uphill using a narrow path. We passed some Billy goats and finally we arrived at the tarred access road, which was not shown the map.

Across a juicy meadow an excellent path led us directly toward southwest into the proximity of the confluence. The CP is situated within a timber forest in a steep area. The signal for the GPS was very poor and the accuracy was in the range of 15 m.

The return path on the way back led us to a junction with our access path. Our success was celebrated outside of the forest with a picnic. The descent was more directly, simpler and led us across a wooden bridge directly to the parking lot.

It was a beautiful journey, a journey to South Tyrol and not only to Alto Adige. This should be conscious the project co-ordinators also, that this point is situated in South Tyrol, Italy.

02-Oct-2004 -- Im Zuge unserer Südtirolreise streiften wir am Heimweg diesen Kreuzungspunkt. Nach einem Besuch des Bauernmarktes in BRIXEN fuhren wir durch das Pustertal über Bruneck in das Ahrntal. Obwohl dieses Tal ohne Ausfahrt in Richtung Österreich ist, herrschte an diesen sonnigen Sonntagnachmittag starker Ausflugsverkehr.

Wir passierten SAND IN TAUFERS fuhren entlang des Flusses AHRN bis ST. JAKOB und parkten beim Gasthaus ALPENROSE. Wir gingen Richtung OST über die Ahrn Brücke und wanderten bergauf über einen schmalen Pfad. Vorbei an Geißböcken gelangten wir schließlich eine die geteerte Zufahrtsstrasse, welche in der Karte nicht eingezeichnet war.

Über eine saftige Wiese führte uns ein ausgezeichneter Weg in Richtung Südwest direkt in die Nähe des Kreuzungspunktes. Dieser liegt im Hochwald im steilen Gelände. Der Empfang war stark behindert und die Genauigkeit lag im Bereich < 15 m.

Der Rückweg über einen höher gelegenen Weg führte zum Kreuzungspunkt mit ausgezeichnetem Wanderweg. Der Erfolg wurde außerhalb des Waldes mit einem Picknick gefeiert. Der Abstieg war direkter, einfacher und führte über eine Holzbrücke direkt zum Parkplatz.

Es war eine schöne Reise, eine Reise nach Südtirol und nicht nur nach Alto Adige. Dies sollte auch den Projektkoordinatoren bewusst sein, dass dieser Punkt in Südtirol, Italien liegt.
