#1: Looking South from the confluence point

(visited by Bora Yurtoren and Erkan Candemir)

20-Oct-2004 -- Determined to do all the Confluences around our hometown Ankara we decided to head south this time. There were three Confluences yet not visited in central Anatolia, two of them seemed rather easy (no mountains, etc.).

We met early in the morning, but there were serious looking dark rain clouds in the sky and the temperature was around 14°C, so instead of our usual confluence transport (trailie bikes), we took my 4x4, the Mighty Lada Niva. After all, it would be better to have a roof above us if it started to rain in the middle of nowhere.

We headed south on the Ankara-Konya highway and arrived in Kulu after 110 km. I made a waypoint of the Confluence on the GPS and we drove 13 more km to South until the pointer of the GPS told us it was about time to leave the road. We had 2.4 km more to go on plain dust. Since there were no planted fields or any obstacles in front of us, we drove straight and reached the Confluence in no time. It was easier than we thought, even after the picture taking and wandering around it was still early in the morning and we had plenty of time to do our next target. So we decided not to go back to the highway and took the dusty village roads to 39N 32E.
