03-Oct-2004 -- We had completed two successful visits the previous day (28°S 117°E and 27°S 117°E) and were looking forward to more visits today.

We left Cue around 7.30am and drove north, refuelling at Meekatharra. We decided to bypass 26°S 118°E due to time restraints and continued on out the Mt Clere road. Whilst stopped for a morning tea break, a vehicle pulled up and the lady driving said she was going to a wedding at Mt Clere homestead and was wondering if we were heading the same way. We assured her we would keep a lookout for her in case of vehicle breakdown. Not far south of Mt Clere we encountered a family of emus (see photo). We arrived at Mt Clere at about 1.40pm and talked to Greg the station owner who said his son Daniel was about to be married at 4pm. The tables were laid out with white table cloths under the shade of enormous gum trees. He was happy for us to use the station tracks to get to the confluence point, and gave us directions as to the best route.

We headed off in a north east direction, crossing the Gascoyne River, and following the track to Stink Well. Continuing on to a point about 2km almost due south of the confluence, the country opened up into large flat clear areas, so we drove off the track directly towards the intersection. As we progressed, we converged onto a well-used track coming in from the south east and heading north directly towards the confluence, eventually passing with 45m of the point. We were able to park our vehicles directly on the confluence! I couldn't have wished for an easier visit - especially since today was my birthday!!

Having taken the usual photo set, we retraced our path back west, bypassing the homestead and continuing on to Landor station.
