(visited by David Mower and Diane Mower)

15-Jul-2004 -- My wife Diane and I had been staying in Sun Valley, Idaho. On a free afternoon we decided to take a ride, part of which included this confluence. I had reviewed Danny Strickland's report and DeLorme's Street Atlas 2004 map, both of which were helpful.

We approached from the West and North. We went over Galena Pass into the Salmon River valley and along the spectacular Sawtooth Mountains. We headed East toward Challis, then south on Highway 93. Before arriving in Mackay we turned West on Trail Creek Road, then Southeast on Bartlett Point Road. We parked about 375 meters from the confluence.

A thunderstorm was approaching from the West so we hurried up the hill to the point. Diane took 5 or 6 photos and the camera battery died. No photo of Diane this time, sorry. The GPS photo is blurry but readable. This was my first confluence visit in a while and I was happy. The views were all very beautiful, especially the nearby rugged mountain peaks.

We traveled on to Arco, Idaho and tried an Atomic Burger at Pickles Place Restaurant. We noticed the numbers on the nearby cliffs that Danny mentioned. We then traveled west to Craters of the Moon National Monument, a truly unique place. Unfortunately it was almost dark when we arrived so we didn't spend much time there.

What a great day! Thanks for getting us out! David and Diane
