#1: General view - North towards Erdenet city

(visited by David Coombs, Oyuna, Choi, Dorjbat and Erka)

11-May-2004 -- Erdenet is the 3rd largest city in Mongolia. The main industry is a huge copper mine jointly owned by Mongolian and Russian interests. This confluence point is less than 5 km from the city centre (but on open steppe land)so is perhaps one of the easier points to bag. During a week-long trip to Bulgan and Selenge aimags (provinces) on agricultural development business we hope to visit two CPs. This one was reached on the way back to our hotel after a farmers’ field day – wheat seed, cattle and pig breeding and plenty of alcohol consumption! The team photo shows – from left - David, Erka, Dorjbat, Choi and Oyuna. The next picture shows dissemination of advice on wheat seed quality – Mongolia style – together with grader and storage bin supplied by the EU.
