English narrative

24-Jan-2004 -- We read the message of our predecessor about river, a bog and canes near CP and decided to find it during a winter season. Our path from Moscow ran along Yaroslavskoe highway, past the ancient Russian cities of Sergiev Posad and Pereslavl-Zalessky. Then we turned westwards about Osokino village and drove about 15 km along the wide and deserted winter road (fig 2).

The icy water tower met us outside Cheporovo (fig 3). We were straying a little in this village and then we found a good place at the bridge over the Sara river, whence the distance to CP was only 320 meters. (fig 4). We decided to go directly on ice (fig 5). Unfortunately water was beyond ice and, for reasons of safety, we have been compelled to overcome the bulk of the way in deep snow. The CP was on a meadow, about 50 meters from the left bank (fig 6). We determined our position (fig 7) and put the record about this occurrence on ice directly (fig 8). We took some winter scenery on our path back from Cheporovo (fig. 9) and set off to the city of Pereslavl.

This ancient Russian city was founded as far back as 1152 by Prince Jury Dolgorukiy and located on the bank of Pleshcheevo Lake. A pearl of its architecture is the Spaso-Preobrazhensky Cathedral of the 12th century (fig. 10). It is most ancient church of Central Russia. Tsar Peter I created an amusing flotilla in Pereslavl in 1693. It was the beginning of Russian fleet creation. During the big fire all ships of amusing flotilla burned down and only "Fortune" boat was kept and stored in museum more than 200 years (fig 10).
