26-Dec-2003 -- In Chistmas week, I went to Uberlandia city – Minas Gerais, Brazil. It's impossible to lose the oportunity to hunt at least one confluence in the region.

My brother Fernando and I, went out december 26, around 8:30h looking for 19ºS 48ºW confluence. We take the BR452 highway, going to the Araxá city, about 30 km until the GPS started show that me should turn left. We went in a dirt road that took us to a farm house that was empty.

We left a message in the windshield's car and started to walk in the pasture, a bit afraid with the cows that weve looking at us all the time. We walked about 2 to 3 km until we saw the lake from Miranda’s hydroelectric in Araguari river. So we saw another dirt road, that got us until the edge of the dam. We could get there by car but, I'm a member of a treeking group!

At that point, we had doubt about the right direction, because the GPS pointed into the middle of the lake, we couldn’t know what direction to take to get closer to the confluence. We took the right side and this was the right choice. From there we always walk on this side of the dam. There was some private lands and we talked with the owners.

We found some skares in that place. First we passed through a herd, certainly cows didn't like our presence in there. At some point we almost had to get into the water, but we could drive the cows away. In other small property we called for someone and there was nobody, just a lot of mango trees. We walked with a lot of enthusiasm on that way when we run into a big dog watching us.

Thanks God the animals were just watching us!!! We took some mango and moved ahead. Further ahead we came across with another interest thing: jaguar footprints! We looked around and continued.

We had to walk around the dam, but finally, just after 6 km of trekking we got at 52 meters of the confluence, the closest we got, since the exact point is in the lake. So we stoped, took some photos, had a shack and admireed the scene.

The return trip was pure serenity, without snakes, eating mango and guava (brazilian fruits), we swam in the lake, and then came back to Uberlândia, happy with this conquest. Unfortunatelely when we processed the photos, the picture of GPS screen was out of focus.

So I'm sending the tracklog showing our aproach.
