(visited by Jonathan & Lilias Bird)

15-Apr-2003 -- After reading the attempted find, I just had to go and grab it. We are currently living in Taiwan, so I booked a holiday back to South Africa (our home country) and off we went one perfect Tuesday morning.

Started out from the car park with the GPS reading about 2.5 km to go. Got to within 600 m of the Confluence on the path. From then on it was bushwhacking first straight up the Jonkershoek River, and then the last two hundred meters was almost vertical up the spur until with much elation, we triumphantly reached the exact point, with the GPS reading all zeros and an accuracy of 7 m. My wife and I made a small rock cairn on the point, made tea and had lunch.

As you can see from the photos, it was a perfect day. I have included one photo of the way up the river, one of the GPS reading and a photo taken in each of the 4 cardinal directions and lastly one of us sitting on the point. We had a super time, and are proud to be the first at this point.

Our way out was more difficult in that we decided to continue up the spur for a further 700 m until we joined the panorama path, this was a big mistake as the bush was very thick and rough. But all in all it was a good day out.
