(visited by Gerrit Visser and Evan Visser)

24-Mar-2003 -- On Monday the 24th March after visiting the confluence point 29S 24E, off we (myself Gerrit Visser and my son Evan) headed for our next confluence point. Before stopping at Prieska to get some supplies, we stopped at a Glacial Pavement site, evidence that long ago this arid area was covered with glaciers.

It was clear from the map that this point was very close to the N10 national road. Close to the point there was a dirt road that would take one even closer to the confluence point. Driving over a cattle grid we headed even closer to the point. It appeared that this was a state-owned road. The land appeared to be privately owned but there was no fence and no sign of a farm house, and no private property signs. I did not see that a 580 meter walk would get us into any trouble. We parked our bakkie (a South African name for a pick-up truck) and took a slow walk looking out for interesting stones. We found a Porcupine quill and the skeleton of a small rodent. We arrived at the point to take some pictures of the North view, East view, and South view, and another picture of Evan.

From here we headed south to find a spot to spend the night and to get closer to our next confluence point in the area known as the Great Karoo. To me the Karoo is a unique part of the world that has a special attraction and I wanted to share this with Evan.
