(visited by Gerrit Visser and Evan Visser)

23-Mar-2003 -- Sunday the 23rd March after visiting the confluence point 28S 25E, off we (myself Gerrit Visser and my son Evan) headed for our next confluence point. While driving along the main road near the actual point, we found a farm road that would lead us closer to the point. Off we headed down the road. While driving down the road it was clear that this road was going to take us to within 1450 meters of the confluence point. However, we carried on to try and find the farmer.

We came across the farmhouse to find that no one was at home. After hearing voices in the distance, we headed off to look for some else to ask the whereabouts of the owner. We came across some of the farm workers. We were informed that the farmer was not going to be back for another three days. I was informed that they were responsible for everything while he was away. My limited Afrikaans prevented me from fully explaining the Confluence project, so I asked if I could go for a walk through the bush on the farm. They did not seem to see any problem with this, so off we headed.

The 1450 meter walk did not take us long. While walking through the veld we saw a Bat Eared Fox running away from us. We had caught it by surprise as the wind was blowing towards us allowing us to get fairly close. It was clear that the confluence point was near a windmill. When we arrived at the point, we took our photos of the GPS, a North view, East view, South View, and one of Evan, just to make quite sure we had not missed anything. We then went to have a look at the windmill before walking back.

From here we started heading towards the town of Prieska. While en route we came across the Douglas Holiday Resort, which looked like a good place to set up camp for the night some 659 km away from home.
