19-Aug-2002 -- Auf unserem Weg nach Hause vom Urlaub in Ungarn und der Slowakei entschlossen wir uns noch diese Confluence in den Bergen der Veľká Fatra zu besuchen. Dank Hans Augdopplers ausführlichem Bericht war ziemlich klar, was uns hinter dem slowakischen Dorf Belá-Dulice erwarten würde: mit einem Geländewagen wäre es fast eine Drive-In-Confluence geworden. Der Punkt liegt am Hang des Berges Osicne (1107 m) im Tal Belanská Dolina im westlichen Teil der Veľká Fatra.

Das Gebirge Veľká Fatra steht etwas im Schatten der attraktiveren Niederen und Hohen Tatra. Die Gipfel sind nicht ganz so hoch. Das Gelände ist eher mittelgebirgsmäßig, obwohl es auch sehr steile Aufstiege gibt. Außerdem gibt es bei weitem weniger Berghütten und andere Unterkunftsmöglichkeiten als in Niederer und Hoher Tatra und das Gebiet ist daher nicht so überlaufen. Die Hohe Tatra zum Beispiel war in diesem Sommer fest in polnischer, tschechischer und baltischer Hand. Das Gedränge in der Tatra-Straßenbahn und in den Seilbahnen erinnerte uns stark an die Zeit vor 1989. Nur sieht man jetzt kaum noch Touristen aus Deutschland.

In Martin verließen wir die Hauptstraße entlang des Flußes Váh und fuhren nach Süden bis nach Koštany. Hier bogen wir abermals nach Osten ab - in Richtung Belá-Dulice. Wir ließen das kleine Dorf hinter uns und stoppten das erste Mal an einem kleinen Staudamm mitten im Wald, hier war die Straße der Confluence am nächsten. Leider war von hier noch kein Zugang möglich, der Berghang war zu unwegsam und es war zu sehen, daß weiter oben im Tal noch ein Forstweg abzweigt, der sehr nahe an der Confluence vorbeiführen würde. Wir fuhren noch etwa 400 Meter weiter talaufwärts. Dann mußte ich allein barfuß weiter - zuerst durchquerte ich eine flache und sehr schlammige Furt durch den Bach Belanský Potok. Dann ging ich weiter entlang der Talflanke bis der geringste Abstand zur Confluence erreicht war. Es blieb eine Distanz von 20 Metern übrig, die ich nur in Sandalen ohne geeignetes Schuhwerk und Steighilfen, nicht mehr bewältigen konnte. Der Hang war hier sehr steil und sehr dicht bewachsen. Die Forderung des DCP (näher als 100 m) war ja erfüllt. Ich kehrte zum Auto zurück, mußte mich vom Schlamm des Baches reinigen und wir fuhren weiter nach Hause.

19-Aug-2002 -- On our way back home from vacation in Hungary and Slovakia we decided to visit this confluence in the Veľká Fatra mountains. Due to the detailed report by Hans Augdoppler we already knew what we had to expect: If we would have had a 4WD we could had a "Drive-In" confluence, well at least "drive by"... The point lies at the flank of the mountain "Osicne" (1107 m) in the valley Belanská Dolina in the western part of the Veľká Fatra.

These calm mountains are always in the shade of the more attractive High and Low Tatras. The summits are not that high. The area looks more like a low mountain range, even tough there too very steep paths and roads. You will also find much less chalets, hotel and other accomodation here and you will find not so much tourists, too. The High Tatras were completely in the hands of czech, polish and baltic people this summer. The crowded tramways reminded me strong of the times before 1989. But now you will see barely people from Germany.

Back to the confluence: In Martin we left the main road leaded along the river Váh and we drove southward to the little village of Koštany. Here we turned left - now eastward - to Belá-Dulice. We left the village behind and stopped the first time near a little dam in the forest. This was the point, where the road had the least distance to the confluence point. But it wasn't possible to get an access to them, the slope was too steep and dense covered with bush. But we discovered that a forest track branched somewhere uphill and would lead us much closer to the point. We drove again 400 m uphill along the creek. Than I had to walk on alone, barfeet through the flat and muddy ford of the creek Belanský Potok until the least distance was reached again. 21 metres remained between the track and that what the GPS would have called "the confluence". In my sandals without suitable boots I wasn't able to climb the steep slope, though I tried. The claim of the DCP (closer than 100 m) seemed fulfilled. I returned to our car, had to clean me from the mud and we drove on back home.
