(visited by Curt Christiansen)

28-Apr-2002 -- After a successful visit the previous day to 46N106W my wife and I had stayed in Miles City. I awoke at 5am and made an unsuccessful attempt to reach 47N106W. If I’d been driving an SUV or had 4-wheel drive I would have kept going but I didn’t like how soft the road was getting so I turned around about 5 miles from the point. Alone, with no cell coverage and a low-slung rental car, I thought it best that I try somewhere else, guess I should have taken that upgrade! I quickly returned to the motel in Miles City, picked up my wife, and we headed off towards North Dakota. As we pulled off I-94 onto the forebodingly named Bad Route Road (pic6) I expected this to be my 2nd failed attempt today. The road turned out to be a very nice gravel road. A couple of miles off the Interstate we met some of the local ranchers moving their cattle to summer grazing (pic5). What they used to do on horseback they now do astride ATV’s. They were very nice and said that although the confluence point wasn’t on their land they didn’t think their neighbor, who wasn’t home, would mind us taking a few photos. Driving along Rd 248 we approached longitude 105 from the west. We determined that the best route was to drive about one half mile north on a section line to a quarter of a mile west of the point. From there I walked along the fence line to the confluence (pic1) and took my photos. Back in the car we met another friendly neighbor while still on the section line and told him our story, he was very nice also and wished us well. We headed east on Bad Route Road and picked up I-94 just southwest of Glendive, Mt.
