10-Feb-2002 -- During our vacation in South Africa we aimed to discover at least 3 Confluences. We wanted to discover 2 of them on one day. Our first goal was 34S 22E and so we started in Mossel Bay on a sunny Sunday morning driving into northwestern direction. Our GPS indicated the Confluence to be only about 25 km away.

After approximately 18 km we left the tarred road and continued on a gravel road for 5.2 km. This road is surrounded by pastureland, so when we discovered that the Confluence was only another 800 m hence, we opened a farmer's gate and entered a pasture. We went on driving for another 100 m, parked our rental car and walked by a hill, along some cattle, on a path that lead us directly into the right direction. It was a very easy walk on grass. There were no bushes or trees which could have been an obstacle. After climbing through a wire fence we just walked on and then we were there, at the Confluence!

As you can see on the photos the weather was great that day and it was very hot, so we took some pictures and walked back to the car. We had no time to waste since we wanted to make our next Confluence on the same day: 34S 20E.
