15-Feb-2002 -- Nederlands:

15-Feb-2002 -- Despite of the fact that this confluence is in an area which is not picturesque, I wanted to visit it. The landscape is flat and open. Long ago the upper layer, peat, has been removed and transported by boats through a network of cut canals. The houses were put along these canals. This so-called ribbon-building is characteristic for these surroundings. The place Stadskanaal, close to the confluence, is a good example. There is much agricultural land with e.g. potatoes.

The approach to the confluence was very easy: there is a small road as close as 100 meters to the point. It had been very rainy. The land, which was partly covered with short grass, was very wet. For finding the exact spot I had to go through deep mud.

Finally I succeeded in getting all zeroes on the display of my gps. When I wanted to take a picture of it, the battery of my camera appeared to be empty. I had to go back to the car for a spare one. Again I had to find the exact place. Doing this I found some pieces of china. Probably from an old rubbish-dump. I have found this on earlier occasions.

After the photo-shooting I walked back to the car through the mud. In the car it appreared that I had forgotten one of the objectives of my camera. For the third time I had to find the spot. After this operation I can probably find it blindfolded.
