We attended the gliding Chos Malal 2001 event (www.patagoniasoaring.org.ar)

This location is one of the best places on earth for gliders and as future pilots we could not pass the trip even if it was only for the weekend.

But it also meant that we would be very close to a couple of confluence points, on the way there and as a result of a late start of the day we had to let one go unvisited, even if it was under 3 kms away.

So, this one we could not let go!

Alejandro, Noemi and I got up very early, all data was loaded in the GPS and we started our journey, the trail was not an easy one since this is mountainous terrain with volcanic characteristics; a very rocky road with small streams crossing it at some points.

All the views are spectacular, the Waile (a small skiing center), the 'wind mountain range' and the majestic Tromen volcano.

To reach the confluence you need to cross to nature protected areas, a beautiful 'mallin' (small valley under Waile) and Tomen lake next to the Escorial (solid lava rivers); all this results in a great place to visit, where just the sight of lava remainded us that nature is the only ruler on earth.

After reaching the closest point from the road to Buta Ranquill we decided to walk the last kilometer. This is not easy since the terrain is covered with rocks and you have to be careful. We reached our goal with little time to spare and decided to build a marker for future visitors. 14 kilometers towards the SSW the Tromen gave a curious glance...

Thanks to Noemi for her patience, to Alejandro for navigating and the magnificent Tromen volcano.
