#1: Looking north

(visited by Glen Burow and Ross Burow)

10-Nov-2001 -- We were able to get within 5km on a reasonable unsealed road and the last 5km of station tracks got us to within 40m of the confluence. We parked the vehicle directly over the confluence and to our amazement my CDMA mobile phone beeped to let us know we were in service. We were in a very remote area and hadn't had any signal for quite a while. I made a call to the rest of the family and told them that we had made it to the confluence. When we left we had only moved a metre or two when we lost the signal again. Weird.
