First confluence by wheelchair (Please let us know if we are wrong - we didn't read all stories!)

Is confluence hunting suitable to handicapped people? Sure, if you have somebody who carries or pushes you also through the biggest bush...

Keeping this in mind we decided to start with the confluence located nearest to our home. Unfortunately we wouldn't be the first visitors of this point. We weren't able to get a GPS earlier and didn't want to buy one only for the purpose of visiting some confluences. A closer look at the map told Gabi and me that 51N/14E should be located near or at a footpath in the woods. This seemed to be good circumstances for the first trial.

We went by car to Lohmen - the village closest to the confluence. But we couldn't come as near to the point as we wanted to because some redirections and working areas blocked the way through the village.

So we had to start with a walk of 2km to the point. The way started with steep paths down and up through a small valley called "Lohmener Klamm". The way was in a really bad condition consisting of big blocks made of sandstone. On the ground was an old saw mill which works now as a restaurant. Later on our way lead through fields where the harvest was ongoing. During the lunch break the drivers of the combines looked distrustfully at our strange behavoiur... The point lies about 200 metres away from the edge of the field in mixed wood with many smaller plants and bushes on the ground. This confluence could be accessed very easily by wheelchair and we will go to the next one as soon as possible.

Let's do the next one - it was a real fun!

We would like to thank once more:
Ansgar from Bremen - for borrowing the GPS-device,
Ulf from Dresden - who brought it to us from Bremen by bicycle.
