  47°N 16°E (visit #2)

#1: The confluence is in front of the right edge of the green house

(visited by Gert K.)

14-Jan-2001 -- Having visited 47°N 15°E yesterday, I was out for this one today. It turned out to be reachable very easily. Maybe one of the easiest confluences at all. No walking required.

From home (Graz, Austria, which is quite in the middle of these two confluences) I had to drive about an hour to get there.

When I got near the confluence I watched my GPS closely. Being within 100 meters, the GPS gave the information, that the confluence was directly ahead, and was counting down the distance. It turned out, that I actually ran over the confluence by car. I stopped 50m later, and went back.

The confluence is located directly on a small road between the villages of Hatzendorf and Tiefenbach. The next town is Feldbach (6.5km to the south)

There is a house next to the road (which can be seen in picture #1 looking from the west) the confluence is located in front of the right edge of the green building. They have a sign, saying that they sell wine, maybe I should have bought a bottle of "confluence wine"...

A railway passes by on both sides of the confluence. It winds up a hill in an "S"-like shape with the confluence being in the middle of one part of the "S". In picture #1 it's going up the hill behind the house on the edge of the forest. The rails pass by the confluence in a distance of 90 meters, so maybe every passenger could claim a visit (since you need to get within 100 meters of the confluence to call it a successful visit)

There is even a small train station ("Haltestelle Tiefenbach") only 160m away from the confluence, 6 trains stop there every day in either direction.

Picture #2 gives a view to the south, picture #3 a view to the west also showing the railroad tracks. The train station would be to the right. Picture #4 shows what can be seen if looking north (my car and the village of Tiefenbach)

Picture #5 is the obligatory shot of the GPS. Note that the altitude is exactly 300 meters.

Picture #6 was taken standing on the railroad tracks 90m east of the confluence looking north. It does not show the confluence itself but I thought it was a nice view.
