(visited by Ross Finlayson)

25-Oct-2019 -- This is another point that I had visited before (almost 8 years ago), but decided to revisit to get a ‘drone’s-eye’ view. I was surprised and disappointed to see that nobody else has visited this beautiful point in more than 15 years, as it’s fairly close to Las Vegas, and not especially difficult to hike to. To try to encourage more people to visit this point, here are the details of the route that I took:

  1. From the small “why is there a town here?” town of Meadview, take Grapevine-Washington Road (a 4WD dirt road) down to the nearby riverbed. Park on the riverbed, near [36.01424,-114.02712]. Start hiking from here.
  2. Hike up a small hill, then across a plateau, ending up down at another riverbed at [36.00892,-114.02418]. (This route avoids having to descend a steep bank.)
  3. Hike to [36.00980,-114.02115]. You’ll find yourself in a wash. Hike Eastward along this wash.
  4. At [36.00970,-114.01347] the wash turns slightly to the Southeast. Continue along it.
  5. At [36.00238,-114.00287], you’ll find yourself at a small drainage, heading Southeast. Continue along this to the Degree Confluence Point.

Again, this is a beautiful point - next to a small drainage, with several Yucca plants, Joshua Trees, and cactus growing nearby,

Here is a remote-controlled aerial video of this confluence point.
