#1: Confluence point

(visited by John Dag Hutchison and Jin)

27-Oct-2018 -- We came to Capadocia to join a balloon tour. Rain and wind did not allow flights the first two days. Our last day in town was perfect, but all flights were fully booked. Instead we had a very impressive view of the balloons from the rooftop of our hotel.

As a substitute we went paragliding over the thrilling rock formations in the area. Not a bad alternative.

Since we had time, we hired a car and followed the mobile phone's GPS to a point 635 m from 39N 34E. Somewhere along the highway we had seen a traffic sign warning of wild boars. A few hundred metres on the way to the confluence point we saw footprints, but fortunately no boars. Rapid lizards scattered as we approached and we heard some swallows we could not spot. On the way back to Capadocia, a wolf was about to cross the road, changed his mind and ran away.

The confluence point was just over the top of a hill with a good view in all directions. It was an easy climb up from the road, perhaps only 50-70 meters. The ground was covered with a thin vegetation of grass and small burdocks which stuck on to jeans and socks.

At the actual confluence point we took the required photos and celebrated in the Norwegian way when reaching a hill/mountain top, with a chocolate.
