11-Aug-2015 -- Artillery fire across the night sky

The Little -Stan Round-trip: We enjoyed gorgeous views from the passes of Kyrgyzstan above the Heavenly Mountains of Tian Shan and bounced through the Seven Rivers Country and the military playgrounds in the deserts of Kazakhstan's Hungry Steppe. This continues the story of 43°N 72°E.

As at 43°N 72°E the highway at Zhanaturmys has a specific U-turn lane makeing a confluence visit easy accessible. Through the small village and over the railway tracks into the fields on the north side leads a bumpy tar road. In the end it became almost a real desert like fesch-fesch pit. After 12 kilometers straight towards the confluence, we must recognize that there is probably no confluence camping here. Althought we are in a hurry because it is already sunset time and the place offers nice views of the Kyrgyz Ala Too, where we started with a gorges and passes tour. But: This is at the edge of a military training ground.

We would like to have a more relaxed finish of our Hunger Steppe confluence tour. But actually, it is a suitable completion of the confluence line on the 73rd longitude East, where we could experience long-term consequences of military use of air, land and water even at remote areas.

For sleeping we rather returned 5 kilometers to the south and parked on the edge of another already harvested field. Well done: The night-time maneuvers and shooting exercises caused bad dreams of war rocket shooting, especially among sensitive dwarfs.

The next morning we head back across the border to Kyrgyzstan, where this year's round trip over Heavenly Mountains and Hungry Steppe finishes at Bishkek.
