23-Sep-2014 – Preparing for the trip to the Maldives, I have compiled a list of favorite hotels by photos. When it was time for a final choose, I compared three or four equivalent variants. I checked the presence of DCP in their neighborhoods. When I learned that one of the DCP is located just 200 meters from the shore, on which stands the hotel, my choice was made.

The problem was that the DCP is not in the lagoon, but in the strait between the two islands - Meedhuffushi, with the hotel Vilu Reef Beach & Spa Resort, and Meedhoo - the island where live ordinary Maldivians. For straits usually characterized by strong currents. Therefore, the idea to overcome the 200 meters to swim to DCP disappeared immediately. The website of the hotel was a list of possible vehicles for rent - boat-canoe, jet ski, catamaran sailing. We do not know how to manage a sailing catamaran, jet ski is inconvenient for precise output to the DCP and photography, so remained a canoe. We thought to take a double canoe that one of us could row, and the second make to the course directions and take pictures. Also on the website was an announcement that in the strait swim is banned. If we can carry out his plan?..

And here we are. We landed on the island-hotel and inspect the point from the sandbank (photo 5). No signs of insurmountable currents do not find...

The next morning we are going to rent and take a canoe. We think that we will not say that we want to pass through the strait. The staff guy says that we must wear life jackets - this is a precautionary measure. He says that the best route is to go around the island. This requires one hour. Wow! How convenient for us... Staff guy displays a map, he explains that the inlet and outlet of the strait has strong currents. Better to go around the island clockwise. This is consistent with our plan and we are at 9:52 push off.

After seven minutes, we go out into the strait. The current is not strong, but we work hard. In the straits the current is not so strong and we continue to slowly go around the island. Even after 9 minutes, we choose a course to DCP - until it is 250 meters. However, to keep the rate obtained with difficulty - starting out and strait for us and throws in different directions. After another 5 minutes we take the first stop at the DCP. We almost accurate - is just one meter away from DCP. We make photos the view to the north, where the sandbank of Meedhuffushi island (photo 1), to the east, where there is a visible of the strait and part of the Meedhoo island (photo 2), to the south, where can see the water villas neighboring island-hotel Velavaru and Uddhoo island (photo 3), to the west, where the Meedhuffushi island's lagoon and equipped platform for seaplanes. One of the seaplane at this point lands (photo 4). All this takes us a few minutes and during that time we drift nearly 140 meters to the east. We have not photographed screen GPS. We want to conquer the DCP for the second time. At high speed to pass through the point. We will go back and make the photo of GPS screen (photo 6). Afterwards we go into the lagoon and in exactly one hour back to the point of rent. We photographed for memory (photo 7) and go to the snack bar by the pool (the pool at the sunset can be seen in photo 8).

By the way, the next day we did snorkeling at the boundary between the reef and the strait 200 meters from the DCP. Because of the strong current there the reef is plentiful (photo 9).

So, September 23, 2014 at 10:14 the first Maldives DCP was conquered!
