#1: The Confluence from 20 m Distance

(visited by Rainer Mautz)

25-Jul-2014 -- This time not the bicycle was the means of transport to reach this confluence, but a rental car. On my way to Magdeburg I deviated northwards a bit to the village Zebelin (1 km from the CP). On the small county road K18 I parked the car in 310 m distance and walked straight to the confluence point across an already harvested grain field.

Half way, my GPS receiver warned me that the battery power will soon coming to an end. I kept on walking and reached the confluence point about 100 m into a pine forest. But right in the moment when I wanted to take the picture of the zeros, the GPS receiver quit working. Even taking out and in again the batteries or waiting didn’t get the device back to life.

So I used some apps on my mobile phone to get evidence of the coordinate position, which worked fine. But I am still lacking an app that can do both, show the direction to a waypoint and the current coordinates position in sub-seconds.

All trees around the confluence are pine trees. The ground is covered with grass and some ferns. There is an asparagus field in 120 m distance. At this time of the year the field is already harvested and those asparagus left on the field have grown up to a height of 1 m.

I had planned to visit some more confluence points in the area, but when I noticed that Berlin is less than 2 hours driving away, I spontaneously changed the plan and visited friends in Berlin.
