(voir N54 W75)

24-Mar-2014 -- It is on March 24th 2014 that the confluence of 54° North 76° West was visited by Andre Walsh, Eric Landry and Francois Careau. The snowmobiles used were a Skidoo Skandic V800 24 inches, a 600 ACE 24 inches and a 600 HO SDI 20 inches.

We left Radisson at 07:00AM after a good breakfast at the local restaurant. We arrived around 11:00AM to our base camp in the North East of Montagne du Pin lake where we settled in after cleaning, heating and set up our wood reserve.

Our first attempt to get to the goal was in the afternoon but we had to return to the base camp before darkness, so we turned back 750m from the goal. Completely wet and tired, it was a wise decision because the temperature was close to -22%deg;F. There were a few streams around, plenty of off track between lakes where the snow starts to turn into salt. Francois lost a rear wheel on his skidoo. The bearing broke in two but nothing prevented him to go around properly (with caution).

The next morning, after a very cold night, the two 4-strokes snowmobiles refused to start. No problem, we knew what to do... The day has warmed up to 5%deg;F and the confluence was reached easily at 11:30 AM without any problem! Pictures with Jack Daniel and a small lunch. We decided therefore to make the second confluence of our expedition today. (See N54 W75)
