01-avr-2014 -- Mardi 1 avril 2014.

01-Apr-2014 -- Tuesday, 1 April 2014. I am in Dori with my colleague Athanase Compaoré for a working session with the Water Agency of Liptako. The confluence point 14°N 0° is just at the exit of the city towards south-east, on the meridian line of Greenwich. It is one of these too easy points that can be reached without leaving the car.

The point was visited only once in 2002, also during the hot and dry season, and after twelve years, nothing has changed.

The point is in an arid plain with thorny trees, acacias, Balanites grazed by goats and sheeps. In the surroundings, there are also some baobab trees.

Not far from the point, there are two great quarries; we see nobody around and we cannot guess if there are holes made by the local community to dispose the solid waste or if there are places for gold seeking. There are many gold mining sites in the area.

In the surroundings, tilling work was done in the hardened ground of the plain to improve the infiltration of rainwater in the soil and to facilitate the growth of grass and shrubs.
