14-Dec-2012 -- I had to go from Montpellier to Bordeaux on Friday, 14 December to attend the annual meeting of the steering committee of IIFARMU. I took this opportunity to visit 44N 1E and 44N 0 on 14 December and 44N 2E on my way back on 15 December.
This CP is located close to the highway running from Toulouse to Bordeaux. It is easy to reach as there is a paved road until 100 m of the point. There was no difficulty in locating the point but my visit was made under a cold rain making the harvested corn field very muddy.
There are many points of interest in the area and I chose to make a short side trip to the city of Auvillar (11 km NW of the confluence) where one can see many heritage buildings. The most famous of these buildings is undoubtfully the market square with his rotunda corn market building dating from the 1825. A few steps away one can also see the clock tower dating from the 19th century.
