30-Jun-2012 -- Our adventure was started by Nidya Castillo, Pío Eugenio Vélez, Valeria Vélez and Esteban Vélez Sáenz in the city of Pereira the past June 30th, 2012 with the purpose of reaching the confluence 5N 76W, which had been visited on August 13th, 2006 by Carlos Bermúdez; however our objective was to get to exact point of the confluence, increasing the precision of the measurement.

We left Pereira at 14:00, heading for La Celia, in the department of Risaralda. After reaching the town of La Virginia, we crossed the Cauca River and continued towards the western mountain range. After that, we left the small town of Balboa and crossing a very narrow road, we reached the point where the GPS indicated that the confluence was closer to the road. We parked our car and started climbing a slope in the direction of the confluence. The precise point is located at 1526 m above sea level, whiting a coffee plantation. At 16:00 we marked exactly the confluence and we took the photographs as a testimony of our arrival. We also buried some coins as a memento and celebrated with a hug and a smile having reached our goal with total precision.

We started our way back home at 16:30 facing a lot of difficulties due to the slippery terrain but really happy because the author of these lines had reached his seventh successful confluence visit in Colombia. We travelled the 60 kilometres without problems and we got to Pereira by 18:30, completing our journey.
