(visited by Shawn Fleming)

04-Jun-2012 -- This would be the third of a dozen successful visits on a clockwise loop east of Colorado Springs continuing from 39N 102W and going through some pretty intense thunderstorms. I parked 60 meters east of point on County Road 360 and walked out to the confluence in another grassy field. This one was bright green compared to my previous two visits today. It was almost sunset and overcast with quickly fading light. I could hear birds tweeting in the distance and a mechanical chugging sound from oil wells.

To the north was a unique circular arrangement of telephone poles adjacent to the road. I captured a picture of a bumble bee on a flowering weed close to the zeropoint. I was establishing a new routine by this point, setting up TerraSync data logging, sending a Spot custom message, and taking normal and panoramic pictures.

Picture #6 shows a TerraSync screen shot on the left captured at the confluence and the resulting Pathfinder Office post processed GPS data on the right.

On my way back to the vehicle, I saw two deer watching me from about 100 meters away. On my way out, I captured a sunset picture of the ‘Bertrand’ house similar to the one taken by Andrew Peterson six months earlier.

I continued on in the dark towards my next objective, spending the night at a rest stop along I-70 so I could visit from 39N 100W just after sunrise.
