#1: Looking South - Includes actual Ground Zero

(visited by David Sterle and Ken Richardson)

11-Dec-2011 -- I made the trip up from my home in Okinawa on a small two-engine aircraft and landed at the nearby airbase. Then, up early in the morning on Sunday, 11 DEC 2011 to drive the 17 kms out to the confluence site, which was very east to get to. An asphalt road turned only a raised concrete farm road in the middle of the industrial farm complex, and we were able to park only about 3 meters from the actual confluence. The ground had been plowed and was nearly frozen. I walked out to the actual confluence with a 3-meter accuracy on my Garmin 76 CSX GPSr. The area was all farm fields punctuated by various very large industrial agricultural buildings.
