#1: Rear Of The Motel

(visited by Keith Campbell and Loreen Campbell)

16-Apr-2001 -- We first drove to Yarrawonga, approximately 80 km from where we live. I didn't know exactly where this confluence was, only that according to a large-scale map it looked to be somewhere between the two towns of Yarrawonga and Mulwala. Only the Murray River that forms the border between NSW and Victoria separates these two towns.

On arriving in Yarrawonga the GPS indicated that the confluence was about 1.5km away on the other side of the river so we crossed over into Mulwala. It seemed to be behind a row of houses so we set off on foot down a track between the houses and a golf course. As we moved closer it became apparent that the spot was somewhere behind a motel which overlooks the golf course.

We could see that the lower rooms of the motel were unoccupied so we approached more closely and discovered that, as far as we could tell, the confluence is right on the doorstep of one of the rooms. I could not get a precise reading on the GPS because it lost the signal as I moved under the balcony of the rooms above but it was close enough to tell that this was the spot.

The confluence is just outside the door of the leftmost room.
